I am new to this forum- I am thinking of buying a new camera. I am a watch-collector and I need a camera that is capable to take really good macro shots. I am thinking of buying the Nikon D50 with a macro lens. Or maybe the coolpix 4500 can do the same job. Advice from you expert needed what to choose. What is the best affordable macro lens to choose for real close-ups? Here you can take a look at my watch collection images at www.30t2.com Regards From Sweden Per k

Per K-

You often see cameras such as the Nikon Coolpix 4500, which are amazingly good at quality macro shots, for sale on E-Bay at $200 or less. That would be the most affordable answer to your problem. Using a Nikon D-50 with say the Nikkor 60mm macro lens, under the best of conditions would cost in the neighborhood of $(US) 750+ here in the United States.

Thanks for your reply.

but if cost is not an issue, what would be the best choice.

I kind of like the idea of having the camera with bit of distance from the object and that is D50 able to.

Per k-

That being your expressed opinion. I would certainly give serious consideration to the Nikon D-50. Let the lens choice be yours. There are manyexcellent macro capableexamples out there.

Hey Per K

Take a look at Ruchais pictures taken with a D50 and Nikkor-Micro 60mm lens. They could be the answer your looking for.
