I'm looking for a P&S ultracompact for my wife since she complains that the D50 and my old Fuji S602z are "a little too large" for her handbag. I'm thinking of getting one before we leave for holidays next week so I'd appreciate all the help I can get (I usually spend weeks doing research but haven't the time).

What I'm looking for:
- image stabilisation
- preferably non-proprietary batteries
- good movie recording capability (am retiring the S602z and D50 is not an option for videos)
- flexibility in storage media
- something between $400-550

I've looked at Canon Ixus55 and Casio Exilim 500 but only a fleeting glance. They may be outdated by now

Hi, I am now on the forums

Have you considered the stylus 800 series???? The females in my life seem to swoon over the stylish all metal and all weather body and good looks of the camera. As a plus it also takes extremely good pictures.

Just a suggestion
