The Sony Mavica FD-91 didn't have either a stabilized lens element or stabilized sensor. It had a relatively ineffective digital stabilization.
I've seen it referred to as digital stabilzation before.

But, according to Phil Askey, it used a floating lens element that compensated for camera shake:

So, I suspect that it's similar to the lens based stabilization systems we're seeing in newer models.

I guess Phil did his homework better than Steve. Steve said it was digital stabilization. Wonder what the difference is between "Steady Shot" and "Super Steady Shot". Maybe just marketing hype.

Even with only 0.8Mp I never understood how they would put a 1.44Mb floppy as storage on that level of camera.

Yep.. I noticed that (referred to as Digital Stabilization). But, it was so new in digital still cameras, that I don't doubt that even the marketing folks represented it incorrectly.

It's my understanding that multiple frames are needed to implement Digital Stabilization anyway. So, it makes sense that a mechanical system would be used in a still camera.
