I plan to buy this Canon SD700 and use it strictly for Video to record my baby. Since it has MP4 video mode, I figure that I can record for at least 1hour 30 minutes on a 2gig memory card.

How good is Canon SD700 video? ...... is it clear & sharp?

Please post your opinion if you have experience with this camera using video. Thank you in advance.

I am pretty sure the Canon SD700 IS does not record video in MPEG4, but in MJPEG. So 2GB memory card can only hold about 20 minutes of video. (I also think -- but less sure about it -- that it limits individual video clip sizes to 1GB, so that's about 10 minutes max per clip. Shouldn't be a big deal.)

I bought and tried this camera for a few days, when I was buying new camera 2 months ago. It is a very nice camera (a bit pricey), and both videos and pictures are very good quality, generally speaking. I can't remember whether you can do optical zoom while recording a video; you may want to double-check if that is important.

(I ended up with a Panasonic TZ1 though, because of the 10x optical zoom and the WVGA video.)

Thanks SSIU. I am leaning toward the TZ1 too. Do you know if they have upgraded the firmware in this camera to accept 4gig SD Card yet (or will they).
