I believe the 620 and 700 are very similar in image quality. So you can probably decide between them based on the other features, such as lcd, zoom, etc.

I think the SD700 is better for a simple point and shoot because it will fit into a jeans pocket, and has optical image stabilization which will really help your handheld shots. The downside is if you want the manual controls which the other two have.

One area where I believe the A620 is superior to the A700 is picture-to-picture speed, especially with the flash. The 4 AA batteries the A620 uses recharge the camera faster than the 2 AA's used by the A700. I believe also that the A700 might have slightly better higher-ISO performance.

Canon is releasing the A630 and A640 soon. I would definitely wait on them before you decide to choose an A700.

A620 has larger 1/1.8'' sensor while A700 has 1/2.5'' sensor. Bigger is better

That is not true at all in this case. The noise characterisitcs of the cameras are similar - and, in fact, ever so slightly favor the A700 - as the larger sensor of the A620 has to accommodate 7.1 MP, whereas the A700's has 6 MP. As engineers continue to work on sensor technology, picture quality improvements can be made while shrinking the sesnor's physical size.
