I came acrossed an unusual and worisome problem today. I was printing some recent photos I took of my wife and when printing four of them at once on the same sheet of photo paper two were normal and two were shaded in a very reddish cast. The unusual thing was that all four looked the same on the monitor screen. I tried cleaning the heads and when that didn't work tried deep cleaning the heads and that didn't work either. Does anyone out there have any explaination?

Did you do a nozzle check and did it print each of the eight colors on the test page? That would tell you if the cleaning did the job. Are you using Canon or generic inks? I ruined several print heads with generics on my i9900 and I only use Canon inks now.

Sounds like ink is not feeding properly from the cartridge (starvation). Are you using OEM, compatible, or refill inks? Try checking out:

Very knowledgeable and helpful people. I have been refilling for several years and now use Image Specialist inks in my MP830 and i9900 without problems. If refilling, you should use OEM cartridges.
