dear people at steve's forum. i'm yet another person planning to get a wide-carriage inkjet looking for advice of professionals...
i am only an amateur photographer (and judging from your remarks about your long-lasting experience) a newbie, too. nevertheless i would like to get prints as good as possible for the money i spend.
like others i have spent many (!) hours looking up information, reading reviews, scanning discussion forums etc. and have at one point ended up with three possible contenders (surprise, surprise, surprise...):
epson r1800, canon i9950 and hp photosmart8750. in this forum many people have posted about these printers and some of these postings were very emotional. for somebody who is about to spend quite some money on a printer this can all turn out quite confusing.
just in case that i'm not the last person on this quest, please allow me to use this space for posting the links to some "official" reviews. maybe somebody will find them useful, too.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Epson-R1800/ (well, not really a review, but it will give you some ideas...)
PHOTOSMART 8750 REVIEWS

http://www.connectedhomemedia.com/Vi...rticleID=42822 (huge discussion following article!)
http://www.digitalmagasinet.dk/%5Cshow.asp?ID=440 (unfortunately in danish, too)
btw i still haven't made up my mind and will continue to look out for some (relatively objective, non-emotional) comments by people who have been using these printers for quite some time...
