I saw this duck a few years ago when I first started visiting this pond. I didn't think of it at the time. But I haven't seen this type at the pond since. Does anyone know what kind of Duck this is? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, photo_mage. The posture of the duck when standing out of water would seem to suggest what is called a marsh duck (dabbler - like mallards or black ducks) but I don't know of any that would look like this one.

Is this pond a man-made pond? ...or one in a park? The reason I ask is because I see in the picture what appears to be a concrete retaining wall at the pond edge. This would give me some reason to believe that this bird is a domestic hybrid variety of duck.

This pond is in a park. I believe that it was a natural pond that they built paths around (thats the wall you see.) The park is near Cleveland, OH. (Part of theCleveland Metroparks)and there are numerous small cities and towns around it, soyour theory is entirely plausible. Thanksfor the information, and your time.
