Default bad day turnes out good

How about this from this morning:

I went out for an owl, but never saw it. Then on the way back I bumped into a hawk on a telephone pole (I'll post one of those later.) While shooting the hawk another bird flew in the tree above me. I look up, and its a cedar waxwing. I just love these birds. They have the wonderful habit of carrying berries over to their mates and feeding them. I didn't get to see that, but I did get really close to this one, as it fell asleep in this bush right in front of me and that hawk. I got many good pictures, I hope to put up a gallery tomorrow.

What do you think?

Physical: 10D, 100-400 @220mm f6.7, 1/1000(?) 550EX w/high speed sync, tripod
PhotoShop: cropped about 20%, slight contrast, lab sharpening, cloned away lens dirt, reduced for easy viewing, save-to-web

The detail of the top feathers is very nice even when the focus is pretty soft.
The juxtaposition with the berries strikes a classic pose that always gets attention.

Well worth braving the cold and those bad knees! That's a beautiful shot, Eric.

NIce, you got it to sit still long enough for a picture

They come through here in little swarms but everything is in motion, seems like they never stop.
