This little guy about 4" tall or so was sitting up in this tree and I was able to get to within 20' or so. Anybody have an id on this one please.

I guess I'd have to agree with bobbyz, zoomn. It bothers me a little that I don't see the streaking on the underside come all the way up the throat, but I guess I'll have to chalk that up to individual variation as I can't think of what else it could be.

nice shots but I could not help but laugh at the first one, The bird looks as if he's been smoking some heavy drugs, very spaced out looking.:-)

I would add, these are immature House Finch, the Female has darker stripes than that. Unless you haven't pushed the contrast enough.
Nice shots btw ![]() |

It is possible that this could be a young one. It wasn't real spooky, it let me walk around the tree a bit before taking off.
The color on the second one where it is chirping is pretty right on. That one came out very clear and detailed. The first one is a little blurry, no tripod on these, that is probably why he looks stoned, his eye is a tad blurry. Thanks for taking a look. |
