This wasn't easy to get because i had to take it with my arms above my head to keep the mesh fencing out of the photo. Luckily i timed it right as the sea lion jumped to touch the stick with her nose to earn a fish. :-)Shot with Canon Powershot A60.

Good photo. Made all the better considering the conditions.
If the wire of the mesh isn't too thick, you can take the picture with the lens almost touching the wire. If it's too close the camera won't focus on it and it won't come out in the picture. |

Thanks ferny. I never thought about trying to shoot through the mesh, I thought i'd just shoot over it and hope for the best. :-)

Ferny is right although Ive found you dont have to be too close either. I shot this budgie through the aviary wires. I just zoomed in and focused on him and the wires just disappeared.
I like the shot of the seal. Good action shot:-) ![]() |

Yeah, the best way is to zoom slowly. The net should disappear in your viewfinder as you zoom out eventually. I took this picture at the zoo while doing just that. The net I zoomed through is the same as the one you see behind the bird.

Sorry, forgot to mention that that is an amazing shot you took there. Does the A60 have a tilting feature so you can view the lcd screen at an angle? My camera (Sony DSCF717) has that feature, but it is still kinda hard to get an action shot that clear while holding the camera over your head. Very nicely done.

Thanks for those examples Julie and golovemd, i'll try that next time i go to the zoo. golovemd, my A60 doesn't have a swivel lcd, that was only on the later A-seriescameras. :-)

Thats true and I prefer to shoot through the lens, however there are some times when the G3 is a better option because of the swivel lens and the ability to get shots in difficult situations. Unfortunately Im not a contortionist.:-)
