Got one quick shot of this Chuckar before it took off. These birds are notorious for not sticking around and was lucky to get one shot.
They are such a pretty bird. I will keep trying to get a better shot and post a followup. ![]() |

I have never even heard of this bird let alone seen one. Nice going. I'm certainly interested in more shots if you can get them.
It looks like the exposure is a little off, but if they are that hard it hardly matters. You might want to play a little in post-processing to see if you can selectively darken the hilights. Eric |

From the variety of birds that you've been posting pictures of, I'd say that you've got available a really good area for birding zoomn.
This picture of a chukar is very nice. They are hard birds to approach - very wary and quick to flee. |

Thanks geoffs and eric s.
Agree the exposure is bright on this bird and the focus could be better. Taken with digital zoom, I think about 24x,with my c-210 teleconverter. Just had time for one quick shot handheld and he was gone. Just glad to have gotten the shot really. I see them quite often so have high hopes for a better shot down the road. Yes I am lucky to have such a birdy area to play in.Most of my bird shots have been taken within 15 minutes of my house in Boise. |
