I really like that first one. It almost looks like the snail is looking at that object in the background. I think B&W really suits that picture.
I like how you retained the detail in the shadows on the shell. Well done. The lighting is a bit harsh on the second one.... And neither the 2nd or the 3rd do much for me. Don't really know why. |

Hi Dennis
If you have Photoshop it is quite an easy effect to achieve. 1. Duplicate your background layer. 2. Add an adjustment channel mixer layer. 3. Check monochrome and then play about with the rgb sliders to get the best b&w effect. The values should total 100 when you are finished. 4. Now move back one step in the history brush window. 5. With the history brush tool selected paint in the colour you want. And that's all there is to it. Took me 5 mins to do! Cheers Martin. |

After much deliberation I finally figured out why the first two especially the first were great compared with the third. The third shot is more like a picture of a flower with a snail sort of hanging around. This happens perhaps because you can't really see much of the snail's body since it's hidden by the flower.
After these shots one might even get to like snails other than gastronomically.. |
