another great set of bird photos! gj!
we used to have a bunch of goldfinches come by my house....but then the squirrels took over the feeder....and caused a bunch of rutcus...so we ended up getting rid of the feeder....we've tried to set it back up....but the squirrels scare all the birds away and eat all the food :-\ |

Nice pic
Fascinating how species differ around the planet. The sparrow you have there looks just like ours...below the waist. Looks like someone's grabbed one of our local sparrows and taken an airbrush to his head and chest! ![]() |

Thanks ccomley, this particular species is one migrating up to the northern region of Quebec (north coast of the St-Lawrence peninsula up east - north of Anticosti Island and up north between Hudson Bay and the Ungava). So I was happy to catch them before they leave in days/weeks. Thanks ! |

Thanks Vito, have you tried to set vertical silo type feeders made for Finch ? Normally squirrel don't bother too much with them, unless they have absolutly nothing else to eat. My trick now, to prevent squirrels to eat in bird feeders is, I give them stuff to eat on the ground, so they don't disturb the birds. Cheers |

that is wat we had.....it was just a tall pole....about 6 feet i think...and it had this half sphere things to keep the squirrels off....but they chewed a hold in it!!!!
i think i might have to resort to feeding them on the ground...or somewhere else.... |
