Great shot. I would have gone for a little tighter crop though (this would look better at a larger size, but I didn't have the pixels to work with).

Beautiful shot, Tom! I like Ron's crop, too.

I agree Ron, but I wanted to leave some of the foreground in. with the foreground and background out of focus it gives a sort of 3D effect. Here is a little tighter crop.
Thanks Jan, the grass gives a little color. ![]() [Edited on 6-21-2002 by Tom C] |

Tom, try to place the subject more left -- I understand why you'd want to maintain some DOF-blur in the foreground, but centrally-placing the subject reduces the impact of the scene (IMO).

Ok Ron, I replaced the pic above so the thread didn’t get to slow.
I removed that white bottle on the left also. What do you think? |

This shot really shines now (IMO).

It looks great - I think with this new forum you can actually delete a thread...
Best regards, Lin |

Thanks Lin, with a little help from Ron the crop makes for a more interesting photo.

My wife thinks you should give up seagulls and stick with the long-legged birds. She's a little funny that way. Great photo, and the crop commentary with photos was educational. Its amazing what a little cutting and shifting changes.
Keep them coming..... |
