While testing my FZ-10, got a chance to shoot a few more backyard bird photos. They were cropped, slightly leveled (or curved), resized and then USM-ed. No other editing actions were applied. The first two, as everyone know, are gold finch and chickadee. Both image were shot near at the minimum distance. The FZ-10 lens at 420mm seems quite good.

The next two were taken with a Sony VCL HGD1758 1.7X. Both bird were at least four to seven meters away. They were cropped from the center portion of the images, which the Sony 1.7X performed very good. But, I expect more as the detail of the blue jay is not as fine as that of the gold finch. The FZ-10 lens has lower contrast. It is even lower when a converter is mounted. The texture of the black bird was so poor that I have to apply more contrast and USM to get it right. But, the details is still not there.
