I saw this beautiful Great Egret today while walking along the Scarborough Marsh with my fiance (UnisonBBS).

Nice picture. Metering is tough on white birds. Perhaps a "tad" more exposure, but overall...well done!

Metering those is VERY very hard. Add on top of it that it's almost backlit and its a very hard shot to get.

The only improvement I can think of would have been to use fill flash. That would have lit up this side of the bird without (hopefully) blowing the highlight on the back of the neck. Because if you increased the exposure, I bet you would have.

Good pose and I like the crop. Well done.
