Did I get ya? I still think that looks like an alligator.

I went out with a bunch of teenagers who are doing a mural project. They wanted to see some natural environments and so a group of us took them on a nature/bird walk to a local estate with a fairly large grounds. It was interesting to see which wanted to look at the heron and which didn't really care.

Here is a closeup of the heron from a shot a few seconds later:

I don't remember the exact specs on these pictures, they were only quickly edited and posted. Not my best, but I like 'em. Something like:
Camera: 10D 600mm +1.4TC 1/45 f5.6 ISO 200 RAW
Photoshop: RAW convert, curves, crop, reduce, sharpen (maybe noise removal? I did it to some)

Hi there, Eric. That green heron sure is tough to spot when looking straight on at him! It took me a few seconds to home in on him, probably because of that nasty looking alligator wannabe in the foreground :-)

I know what you mean about observing which of the kids care versus don't care about the wildlife. Sometimes, at work, when I see some bird out the window and mention it to one of my coworkers, I can just see their eyes start glazing over...
