This little mama merganser brought her 11 ducklings out to meet the world at a nearby national wildlife refuge the other day... I'd gotten photos of common merganser chicks, but these were the first hoodie ducklings I'd seen. What a treat!

Thanks, DSP! My pleasure! I'm not surprised you've never seen one... these little ducks are native to North America, and only rarely found in Europe (although they are not uncommon in captivity there). As far as I know, they've never been found in south Asia...
