Raven in pursuit of California Condor at Grand Canyon Village. The Ravens entertain themselves by the hour chasing Condors, who really don't seem all that concerned. D60, 100-400 mm IS @ 400mm. Cropped. Worked in PS.

I know Kevin, isn't it amazing? And that's the way they follow the condors, to them it's serious business, to the condors it really doesn't matter!

That’s amazing Christie, wonder why they chase the Condors, protecting their turf, or maybe a nest?

What a great shot. Did you wait and wait, or was it more of an Oh my, can I get focused in time?
I have a question, actually 2: 1) what metering did you use (Eval, Partial or Centerweighted?) 2) Did you use one-shot or AIServo focusing? |

Christie,
I'm going to be at the Canyon next month with my family and the condor will be a "life bird" for my wife. Where can they be seen? Thanks |

Thanks, all.
Tom, ravens chase everything. They're the great tricksters. They sneak up on perched condors and pull their tail feathers which infuriates the condors! ![]() Walter, Centerweighted, one shot. Since there's lots of Ravens at the Canyon and since they frequently chase the condors, I had lots of opportunities, most of which I blew! ![]() Floydster, Grand Canyon Village is where they hang out a lot. Just look for a person with an antenna attached to a box who looks like he/she is tracking aliens ![]() [Edited on 6-13-2002 by icarus] |

You see this, but rarely have the camera ready - great catch!
Best regards, Lin |

Thanks, Lin. I usually have camera ready because that's what I go to the Grand Canyon for! However, since the action is so fast, I usually mess it up one way or another.
