This is the first time I am attempting to post with an image, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there will actually be something here when I'm done. This little fellow showed up at my feeder, first time I've ever seen one and he hasn't been back since. The photo doesn't do him justice, since I took it through the kitchen window. He was almost neon, he was so bright!

Fine shot, not that sharp though...
You should crop it quite a bit. Shots like this is often better off placing the object in either right or left position. Just a bit. Your photo will look much better. But its not bad like it is... |

Thanks Klaus,
You input is greatly appreciated. I really want to learn, and there is no class I could take that would allow me to get input from as many instructors as this board has! I was afraid to do too much cropping, the camera I used is only 850K... which may explain the lack of clarity as well. I think you are dead on about the placement though. I knew it didn't "feel" right, but I couldn't put my finger on why. Also, since it was taken through a window, I had to fiddle with the image in Photodeluxe to remove a yellow green glare across half of the image, covering the bird. The sharpen tool seemed to make the picture grainy, I don't know how to remedy that. Does anyone know of an photo correcting program that will all you to fine-tune images better than Photodeluxe, but less $$ than Photoshop? Or perhaps Photodeluxe is ok, but I just really need to upgrade to a camera with more pixels. I am hoping to find an oly C-2100 someday, since I'm addicted to the zoom with the image stabilization. |

I dont know about Photodeluxe but the sharpen tool isnt good for sharpening a shot - in i.e photoshop its called "the unsharpen tool". (strange name huh...) Try looking for that in PDL.
