That "common blue" has a wonderful color.. seems rather uncommon to me. You captured it beautifuly. Looks like someone has a pastel blue chalk and lightly dusted its wings.

The Peacock Butterfly has a great pattern. I've never seen one, but I wish I had.

The 6 Spot Burnets have wacky wings. Are those moths or butterflies? That semi-transparent quality is great. I like that curl in the antennae.

Makes me think I should go out and shoot at lunch.

Thanks Eric, very glad you like them.

With regards to the Common Blue, I think the D100 got slightly carried away in the colour intensity department - but I don't mind !

The Peacock was an early butterfly for Arthur's Seat (about the 25th of March). It may have been an early migrant or possibly has hibernated. From some of the wear on the wings possibly the latter.

The 6 Spot Burnets are moths. Their fore-wings are as you see them, but their rear wings are scarlet. You only normaly tend to see them in flight, but that moth had it's wings slightly open.

I'm very lucky as I live about ten minutes walk from Arthur's Seat, so it's an easy Sunday morning visit. At this time of year I also take it in on the way back from my work. I think I've got a very understanding partner !
