Beautiful bird to watch both swimming on top of the water and under it.

Those are beautiful shots of a loon, Norm. They are wonderful birds and it is really eerie to hear their calls at sunset when you are camping out!
Missed you around here the last few days. Good to have you back! |

Geez, what did you do go out with your scuba gear and periscope cam!!
Looks like you are taking the bird out for a swim. How did you get so close. Great shots. I really like that you left the reflections in the shots. |

What are the small white dots near his/hers eyes? Are these water droplets?

I appreciate the comments, as always, guys. Those dots are water, yes. This bird would dive and be gone for 3 minutes, until I saw a black and white streak zooming like crazy under the water about 15 feet before me. I guess the price you pay for feeding under water is droplets. :-)
Geoff, I heard it's call only once that day and felt betrayed by it because it is definitely a wonderful thing to hear. Eric, lately I've been cropping close, probably too close, because I've been working on getting things looking sharp. I appreciate your comments on this as it brings me back into the perspective that is necessary, which is the overall work. However, that seems to be my focus lately so I hope that you can adjust your focus in this matter, just for awhile, until I work out the sharpness thing. Thanks, as always, for your comments and critique. |
