The Australian Shelducks were acting very aggressively towards other birds last week, today the reason was revealed.
Female and chicks, 12 chicks in all, they'll be lucky if 6 survive the Swamp Harriers, Goshawks, Purple Swamphens and Foxes. ![]() The male having a break from chasing off anything that came close. ![]() Little Pied Cormorant ![]() Australasian Shovelers settling down after being chased by the Shelduck. ![]() |

G'day Mike
More of your beaut Aussie bird shots - and as always, spot-on focus & exposure I'm impresed that you know all their names - I'm a slacker in this regard ... to me they're 'birds' but I enjoy 'em all ![]() Phil

Thanks Phil, I'm lucky to have friends who are expert birders and also to have the wetlands just a 10 minute stroll from home, makes learning the names easy. I still look them up before I post.
