You don't mention a flash, but it looks like there was one. Was there? Was it the built in flash, or an external?
Very well done, that type of shot is very hard. I'm surprised that 1/500th was fast enough to catch it. Eric |

Thanks again for comments. Yes, I was using the built in flash. I was surprised also that the 1/500 stopped the action. I had been using 1/1000 and was actually picking up more motion. It also caused a shadow effect, for example it looked like the wings were casting a shadow on the background. I thought I would give 1/500 a shot and it worked out well. Some of the success at 1/500 may have had to do with the position of the wings. They may have been at full extension. I'm going to try somemore at the same speed and see what results I get.
One question I have that one of you may be able to answer. I cannot use any type of burst mode using the built in flash so this binds me to trying to get that one shot until the camera is ready to fire again. Will an external flash fire quick enough to allow me to use a burst mode? |
