I knew the baby rufous hummers at a nearby wildlife refuge would fledge over the weekend, so I went back yesterday to see, and sure enough, they'd left the nest. Found one on a nearby branch, though, and waited for mom to come back and feed it...

I can't say that I have ever seen a photo of a hummingbird feeding a baby. What wonderful photographs.

Thanks, Tangula! This is the second time I've been privileged to photograph a mama hummingbird feeding a chick. The first ones were Anna's hummers, and i was able to photograph them still in the nest...
