Got my first saw-whet owl on Sunday! The little fella was roosting in a fir tree near a road in a national wildlife refuge, and I was able to get some shots. Saw-whets are nocturnal, and sleep during the day, so this little guy was off in dreamland; would have loved to get a shot with eyes open, as they have amazing eyes, but they need their beauty sleep during the day so they have energy to hunt at night...

That is a great shot. These guys are so little they fit into a frozen orange juice container. I help band these little guys in October and what an amazing little owl.
