Wish it was bigger so one can see the seal.

Oh, my kingdom for 400mm!!!! :-)
Kadok, it's always nice to see these animals in the wild. When it comes to photographing them, I'm in the same boat as you right now - not enough focal length... |

The lack of zoom has made this photograph. It shows a small seal alone in a wide ocean. True, more zoom would have shown the seal in greater detail, but it would have been completely different.

I agree. It shows how insignificant and lonely he is. I like its austerity and contrast, to what we normally see.

Just goes to show how a photograph can mean different things to different people!

Hi aladyforty, what you see in the back it's a reef. Photo was taken at low tide. Lots of shipwrecks in the area due of those reef. This is a pic of a ship gun recovered from one of the shipwreck.

I agree, it would have been a different picture. Very different. I wish the exposure were a bit better, so what detail of the seal was more obvious. But that doesn't change the expression of the picture. The seal out there alone in the barren expanse of the sea (of course, it isn't barren below the surface, but that doesn't show.)

Nice shot of the ocean with a seal in it. That seal sure picked a small rock to dance around on. Thanks for posting.
For the shot to be of a small insignificant seal in the great expanse of ocean it may have more impact if the piece of rock in the forefront was cropped out. |
