Yep, those are pretty cute. They are also representative of how good both squirrels and racoons can be in raiding things not meant for them!
Racoons, especially, can be very destructive. I used to have racoons which regularly completely cleaned out my backyard (small manmade) pond of whatever goldfish and/or koi that I would stock it with. I'd wake up in the morning and I'd notice all the potted pond plants that used to be in the pond instead laying on their sides on the edge of the pond. Right then and there I knew that the racoons had been busy, clearing out obstructions in the pond so they could fish more easily. Darn buggers! |

Very cute, that racoon has a very guilty expression on his face.

Nice action shots!
Really like the first one where the tail is just sticking out. Wonder how he got turned around in that little spot and got back out. |

Thanks. The squirrel actually just backed up and out of the feeder. It was kinda funny because he would go into the feeder, grab a nut, pull back out to eat it, and then push back into the feeder for more. I seem to remember a test in Britain where they set up an obstacle course for squirrels to see if they could figure out how to get to the nuts. They had to climb across a rope with obstacles, and then they had to jump over a gap of several feet, and I think they even had a maze like tunnel, and then the squirrel had to pull up a string that had the nut on the end of it. I guess if its a matter of survival, you have to be able to do just about anything to get enough food to live.

Never in my life did I expect to see a squirrel squeezed in a tube feeder before. Hope there was no trouble getting back out.
And that racoon, well he looks like hes ready to confess all his past sins or something. Has that look of guilt. |
