Hi Frank!
Lovely shots!' I like no. 1 - what a shame the body of the bird didn't get sharp...that would have been so nice and with the wings in move...! I especially like no. 2. I dont mind the lack of sharpness here. The shot works so well with the movement of the bird. And execellent framing - very innovative. I suppose you had a cloudy sky that day ? Or how did it become white. It works very well isolating the bird to catch our eyes. Great!!! |

Hi,
Thanks. I sat on the grass for about one hour with some cake in front of me, that attracked the birds. By just sitting very still I had the oppertunity to get really close to some of them, and I anticipated when I thought they would take off, that took me 30 shots or so to get one good one. The first one was a LUCKY shot, I was framing it on a branch with a small DOF to let it stand out, and when I pressed the shutter it flew right at me , and voila it was there. ![]() It was a very white sky indeed, one hour later it poored down. I only started about a half year ago, but with digital it's so nice to just keep shooting and deleting you are really leaping forward in progress. Also the comments here help greatly. Thanks, Greetings, Frank |

Nice work Frank. In flight is about as dificult as it gets, but I like the effect that you've caught there.
Most birds have a regular "circuit" when looking for food - flying to a particular spot. So your best bet is to try and position yourself (tripod and shutter release) and start shooting on contnuous as soon as you see the bird flying in. That's my theory anyway, I'm still trying to get it to work ! |
