I seem to be able to find the most uncolorful subjects and surroundings. Right now brown sums up the surroundings around here at least for a week or two more. Correct me if I'm wrong on the ID. Not enough DOF so its not all in focus. I also managed to take out part of the foot.
EDIT: Found out that this is actually a Hermit Thrush so I was wrong on the ID. ![]() Edit : Cropped and reduced as a portrait. Better this way or full image? ![]() |

I would agree, based on the bird book I've got in front of me.
Nice picture. I like them both, and I don't think I'd want to choose. Eric |

I like them both. The first shows the bird better, but the second reveals how well you photographed the bird. It is very sharp and detailed. Good job.

Very nice bird shot. Birds don't have to be multi-coloured to be nice.
I'd love to see one in the wild..... Regards, Graham. |

I could produce an image or two with the 50mm f1.8 if you'd like. I don't have any around, as I use it for special occasions only (very dark interior shots like at concerts.)
I'm with Graham, I'd like to see one as well. Eric |

even though you mentioned two things you found wrong with it (shallow DOF and cut off toes) i still really like it....that background is spectacular!
i think the close up is a bit better cuz it cuts out those so called "mistakes".....but i really like both....this is an amazing shot with GREAT clarity on the head! you should be proud ![]() |
