I was photographing pelicans the other day, when this greater yellowlegs flew in and let me get within 30 feet or so to shoot it for 20 minutes while it foraged along the edge of a channel. It was joined by a second one that seemed to act like a youngster, following the first bird around and pestering like it wanted to be fed. These are easily the closest, and best, shots of a yellowlegs I've ever gotten...

I'm not one of those who thinks the oven makes the cook, but if it matters, these were shot with a Canon 7DII and Tamron 150-600 lens, between 500 and 600mm @ 1/640 in Tv mode @ ISO 400.
