They sure are cute! Great picture of the male too. I finally got to see some quail up close in Eastern Washington this spring - love those head-dresses.

Great shot Christie. I have a pair of them with six chicks residing in my front yard. It is interesting to see how the male gets up on a high vantage point to keep watch while the family feeds.

Nice one Christie!
I never seem to be able to get close enough to even try with these and you've got a "family portrait!" HA!

Best regards,

Lin

Thanks, all.

Marg, I love the head dresses too. They sometimes are at a very rakish angle.

Bill, that's what the male in Guard Duty was doing, I just happened to be above him on the second floor.

Lin, they live in my yard and are very used to my hanging out a second story window to photograph them. Took a while to get Mom and kids out in the open.

Judy, they are indeed adorable. Little striped puff-balls on toothpicks.

Thanks, Purrcat. Tonight there was a pair in with only one chick. It was younger than these and very spoiled! Mortality rate is so high with these little guys.

That is really cute. They look just like baby Guinea and Turkey chicks look but smaller I am sure.

Sasc, thanks. They are tiny, maybe an inch and a half and weightless.
