gee, thanks everyone! i really appreciate all the kind words!

i have to give a lot of credit to the people i've met on these forums -the Panasonic board especially - who passed on hints and tips on digital photography, offered advice and encouragement, showed me by example what good photography is, and generally helped me develop and make the most of whatevertalent i have.

i confess, it's pretty thrilling to see my photo published in a magazine as prestigious as the National Geographic. i never dreamed when i took that photo that it would wind up in one of the premiere photo publications in the world, even as a small print on a "reader photos" page. for a photo i took purely on a whim to see if i could get a decent image, it certainly has gotten a lot of attention!

anyway, thanks again to all of you... especially Jake, for thinking of me and starting this thread in the first place! i do appreciate it!

Rocky

just a side note... when i came home from work today, there was an envelope from my U.S. congressman, with a handwritten note congratulating me for the pic in the Geographic! now, i don't happen to agree with the guy on muchpolitically, but it was still pretty nice of him to notice the photo (actually, probably a staffer pointed it out to him - "hey boss, ain't dis town in yer district?" :lol, and take the time to write a personal note...

I'll have to say that it surely deserved a lot of attention Rocky. For someone to even think of taking a shot of a bubble is outstanding by itself let alone it being the super sharp shot that it was. Yea, congratulations are in order.
