First I want to mention that I haven't seen much interest in Doves here in this Forum but I couldn't resist posting this one. A friend of mine called me this morning and invited me out to his house to see this Dove on her nest. I've never before seen a Dove on a nest so I waited for the sun to chase the rainy clouds away, grabbed my gear and went out to his house. For a bird to be sitting on her eggs this late in the year seems very unusual to me but maybe thats the way it is for Doves. I walked around and around the tree looking for the best spot to get and this lady didn't even bat an eye although I can imagine how afraid she must have been whith me pointing that big black shiny thing at her. Anyhow I thought the pic turned out pretty good and would like to share it with you.

That turned out very nice and worth the effort. I can't remember seeing one on a nest this late.....until now anyway.

Superb lighting, Houston, and sharp as surgeons scalpel [better than a tack :G]

It's a pity we neglect the more common species of life just because they're common, and then we chase after the "rarer" species, and ooh and aah over some brown and grey nondescriptcreature that's as ugly asa dove's chick - fickle, aren't we :?

Since you started the thread, I might as well add a picture of the same species. :-)
