This was the only Bald Eagle I saw today. But, it was worth the wait.

You can see more of this guy and the other shots I got today here:

I was about 60-80 feet away when I took these. I used my D80 w/ a Tamron 200-500mm. My only regret is that I clipped the wing tips at the top. Oh darn! I guess I will have to go back and try again....:-) But, I am still smilin' at these pics. What a high.

OK, one more.

Wow! Great perch and background. I'd be pretty thrilled with these, too.

Excellent series, Steve! These are some of the best eagle shots that I've seen on this forum. So what if the wings are clipped...for me, the story lies in the eyes!

Good job keeping the detail with the strong back light.

Thank you very much for all the positive comments. I really enjoyed posting these. I feel like a proud Papa. I have been out several more times since these shots and have been able to photograph several more Bald Eagles. Nothing as dramatic as these shots but pretty decent none the less. Man, I have got to get up to Homer Alaska some time.
Thanks again, I will post the new Eagle shots as soon as I can get them processed.
All the best,
Steve
