Default Two From Today

Nothing too special, Bluejay and a Squirrel munching a nut.
BTW we put a small pond in over the weekend, as soon as it gets some visitors (and I catch them) I'll put them up.

Fill flash used on both

Now Kevin, your shots are always special. I especially like the expression on the bluejay's face.

Kevin,

Beautiful images as always. And I agree with Jaz... the expression on the Bluejay is great! Can I ask you a question? When you're photographing birds (and other little critters) what percentage of shots are "good"? I'm new at actually attempting to make good photographs of my children as opposed to just snapping pictures and it seems like I take tons and tons of shots only to catch them at just the right time once in a while. (I'm assuming critters are as hard to "catch" as kids!!)

Thanks

An excellent job, Kevin.
We don't have blue jays out here on the west coast of Canada so it is a treat to see a great shot of one.
Regards.

It's not the camera - it's that huge lens!

Wow, Holy Capture Batman!

Thanks to all as always for the compliments!!
Let's see, taking these in order...

Tracey the expression kind of caught my eye as I was going through the shots afterwards.

Ann My keeper percentage varies, from this batch of 44 shots there are these two and perhaps one or two more that I'll keep. To me, the great part about digital is that you don't need much "Shutter Discipline". I've not done much with children but have done quite a bit with pets (dogs especially) One piece of advice I got early on was to "get down to their level". This would hold true for small children as well. Check down below for a shot of our Elkhound

Martin Thanks so much for the kind words, your bee shots are amazing. Even more so as you are not using a DSLR!!

KlausYour input is always greatly appreciated!! And you're right..it's a combination of skill & equipment, again I'm indeed fortunate to be able to have top notch equipment.

Bill Thanks so much for the compliments.

Gimli Thanks as always

BTW, things don't always go as planned...the botched Male Cardinal Closeup is still killing me!! ops:
