This is the first B-c Night-Heron that I have seen in this particular canal. It was about 70-80 yards away and I had to crop it pretty close to make it worth looking at. I think you can see the grain and strain of my processing attempts. Still, it's not too bad. Right after I snapped the photo it caught a fish. Of course!

One of the refuge Fish and Game guys told me about a location that was on the way to the refuge where there was a nest, flock, big gaggle??? of around 50 Night-Herons. Sure enough, the next time I drove by, there they were. They looked like little white balloons tied to the brush and branches in a creek bed. They were too far off (250 yards) for a good shot. But, I'm going to work on it.

still a pretty good shot from 75 yards away! i have yet to see one of those herons... i don't think they get this far north, unless they're seriously lost! but i'd love to get a pic of one to add to my heron collection! :G
