I think the photo itself of the duck is good enough, I just think it needs more color... like a background of weeds or something... always a nit of mine when I see decent pics, is ones with no background and here I go posting one.:?

I don't think it is the background as much as the color of the background being a close match to the duck in this one. That being said, I still like it, though.

Great shot Mike! I agree with Bob in that the duck and background are of the same tone and color. I bet open water is extremly rare in your neck of the woods this time of the year.

Yup, you don't see alot of open water this time of year up here and I tend to go to these open water area's to photograph Eagles and Ducks. :-)

I agree Mike about having some background, but it seems that quite often, the little bu__ers won't supply a good scene with their posing. I too am more than often posting fowl pictures wishing I'd been able to get a background of grass or reeds, but unfortunately, it doesn't happen too often. I guess we take what we can get....by the way, great shot.........cheers...........Don

Actually the blue water on the horizon contrasts quite well with the foreground - Quite nice

I like it as is...the duck is off center in the shot and his body language is fluid so that keeps if from being boring, not to mention the pic is spot on anyhow. donna
