I has no idea either but I agree, it's a pretty bird. A nice shot of it also.

I have no idea on the quality OR if you would be interested but I ran across this CD on bird ID in those Islands you visited.

That could be it, but this guy is only about 3" as opposed to 8-10" and the eye-coverts are not slanted:
