Asmall flock of mallards was floating near the shoreline of theriver where I was standing. As I watched the mallards, they began to lift off out of the water, one by one. Initially, I was caught by surprise and once I realized that they were all taking off one at a time - as if according to some avian flight plan - I started to watch them more closely through the viewfinder of my camera. Here are two of my best results - two mallards, a male and a female frozen in mid lift off - seeming to run on the water. Cheers, Dan
