Default Amazing bird shots (thanks to 10D)

Anyone know the name of this bird ?
This would have been impossible to catch with my old HP-850, the longer I use the 10D the more I'm beginning to love it.

Greetings,
Frank

Default Where was the bird when you shot this?

It looks like some sort of loon to me. In Europe, I think they're called grebes.

Maybe a Cormorant judging from the conformation of the bill?
Good luck with the 10D!!

I particularly like the second photo - good sharp stop-action. I'll have to try that w/ my 10D when I can get the ducks in the lake behind my in-laws to cooperate.

It certainly looks like a Cormorant. I also like the second action shot.
