As allways Mike...great compositions! a little more DOF on #2 for the fungus up frontwould adda little more"pop" to thesubject...but If it sacrifices that cool Bokeh in the background thenforget it.

Kent, you are absolutely correct and described it perfectly. I just got the Nikkor 300mm F2.8 and I have to dial in and figure out what setting I need to be at to get the entire bird in focus while keeping the buttery bokeh. I like the first photo better personally, but I was at F2.8 and blurred the tail because I wasn't at F5.6 or whatever setting I should have been at. We'll get her dialed in. :-)
