when I was sitting at my computer about half an hour ago and browsed through the first photos I took with my new Tamron 70-300 I noticed these blackbirds. At first one sat at a small hunch, watching the surroundings. I moved ever so slightly and carefully, grabbed my camera withthe new lens still attached and pushed my luck in getting a good shot through my workroom window. Bad thing was, that there were some reflections in it and that's why I had to postprocess these photos a bit more than I usual do, sorry. These were taken with manual focus since the AF was hunting way too much at ISO800 at f/5.6-f/10, 300mm. Here is

#1 - blackbird on hunch

#2 - Feeling safe the bird then moved and tried to find something to eat in the grass. The AF couldn't really decide for grass or bird, especially since it moved quite a bit so that was the point where I switched to MF.

#3 - seconds later it flew away (huh?) and I found it, together with a second one, at a nearby fence, scolding. Later I found out, that our neighbors cat was onle some steps away on it's normal route. I was so happy that I was in MF - I don't think AF would have been able to get me this shot.

#4 - cat gone, blackbird "won", at least it must have felt that way - see it parading at the fence, slowly and majestic (I almost had to laugh, it was such a funny sight)

Well, that's it- end of my little story, I hope you like it!

Have a nice weekend,

All nice clean shots.

I'll have to remember to use manual focus more often when AF goes on the hunt.
