man, after all the weeks of cr*ppy weather we've had, all it takes is a few days of filtered sun, and the ol' Squirl is out goin' crazy with the camera! went to the park again this evening after work, and managed these shots before the light went away completely...

this redwinged blackbird let me know he was there in no uncertain terms!

another hooded merganser... this little fellow came close enough to give me darn near a full-frame shot!

Thanks, Roger and Jim, for the comments! the light goes pretty quickly there, and yesterday wasn't the brightest day to begin with... but that darn Sigma lens just seems to thrive in mediocre light! it's gotten me shots i would not have believed possible, at shutter speeds that would be ridiculously slow for most long zooms... best investment i ever made!
