There is a cliff that is above a pair of Ospreys nest. I call them Ma & Pa Dam since their nest is close to El Vado Dam.

I just have not seen many Osprey photos where the Osprey is eye level or lower than the photographer. It is a pretty good job to get to the top of the cliffs then down to the edge so I don't go there real often. Something else to think about is trying to pan on a flying Osprey while you are on the edge of a cliff is interesting when you think about trying to keep your balance. After they have their babies I will go back for more photos.

Here is Ma Dam in her nest with a close up of her

Here she is from the edge of the cliff

I ended up finding a rock to sit behind and put my feet on the rock to pan with out loosing my balance. I was using my BushHawk from a sitting position.

Excellent series Roger! My fave is # 4. Hats off to ya for the climb and the perch. Looking forward to seeing the chics once they hatch. Cheers, Dan

Hi Mr. Dan, thanks for the nice comment and for looking. Now that I figured a good safe spot I can settle into I am anxious to go back and try and get a few deepers.

I have an unexplainable love for the Osprey, I've never seen one in real life;

Awesome series!

great series, Roger... i've only seen one osprey so far this year, and that only from a distance. and of course, there's almost nowhere here where i can get at or above the level of the nest like you did... good work!
