Mr. Serious-Yellow-Headed Blackbird

I decided to spend the afternoon at a little mountain lake in Colorado called Echo Canyon. Last year I went up there one time and noticed a lot of blackbirds and I need some new blackbirds for my web site.

K10D / Bigma / Hand held with my BushHawk

The same as last year these characters are very skittish. The only way I have figured out to get any photos is to watch and see what area they seem to like the best and when they are not there move in get a spot and wait. They never seem to relax and always look so serious.

I've never seen one before other than in books - what a striking combination of colours. Way to go! Dan

excellent shots as always, Roger, but #2 is just outstanding!

i've only seen one of these up here (he must've been lost!), and he was in the midst of a lot of branches, so i couldn't get a good shot to preserve the moment...
