spelled whip-poor-will...possibly, but the white neck marking is more akin to a common paraque or nighthawk. However the colors of those to birds are slighlty different from what is pictured.

I'll go with whip-poor-will, though.:-)

Close, but no cigar (right family, wrong bird). It is a Nighthawk - the only one you are likely to find roosting exposed like that in daylight. You can just barely make out the white patch in the wing just along the edge of the roof. As to which Nighthawk it is, thatmay depend on where you live, but it looks like it may be a Common Nighthawk.

A hard to get picture.
