A friend and I went to a local state park yesterday. I took lot's of shots of great blue herons. While I was checking them out on my monitor, I noticed a fishing lure hooked on the leg of this gbh. Please do everything you can to retrieve lures you lose. I don't know if this gbh will make it or not, but it looked ok.

good point, Ron. whether it bea fishing lure or any other manmade artifact, it can be dangerous to wild animals. in this case, the heron looks okay, and since his leg at that point is little more than a bit of skin and perhaps a tendon or two over his leg bone, chances are the hook will simply work its way out and he'll be fine. but that lure could just as easily have been attached to a fish he caught and ate... with much mroe severe consequences!

ah man. sucks to see this bird all tangled up like that. however you did capture the heron beautifully. the light on this shot is quite nice.

Thanx for the kind words hung. I was out earlier than normal, so the light was good.
I have decided to print an 8X10 and take it to the park ranger. I hope they will be able use it in an educational program.
