High Country Pelicans

Lake El Vado is around 8,000 feet in altitude and Pelicans show up every year for the summer.

I was on top of a small ridge glassing with my binoculars trying to find something along the shore of the lake. Murphy's law showed up and all I found that interested me was at the farthest point from me and still be in the lake.

A view from where I was at

Where I found them and a close up after I got in closer

A small bunch of them started moving so I had to lay down and wait them out. No problem a 15 minute break laying in the sun was welcome

Here is the rest of them. Best I could tell they were having a business discussion.

We don't get any of those around here so seeing them is great, both from you and Roy in Texas.
